There are many benefits to the activities Touch of Life provide, such as regular exercise, being part of a team, learning new skills, cultural integration, integration between young people with different needs and abilities, interaction with young people from different schools, team working between various age ranges.
When some of the young people come to Touch, they can be very nervous or shy, or perhaps only want to join in classes and not take part in performances. The choreographers and volunteers work with these individuals to develop confidence and increase self esteem to enable them to get to a stage when they are actually enjoying performing to an audience and will even go as far as performing a solo part.
Touch of Life has three main choreographers who originally attended dance classes. These individuals progressed through to college to obtain qualifications in dance and performing arts and now teach classes either on a voluntary, or if funding allows, paid basis.
Our committed volunteers all go through the Criminal Records Search process, to ensure they are suitable to work with young people.
